Queen's MBA Students Host Third Annual Innovation Summit ...

KINGSTON, ON, (February 27, 2012) ? Some of the most innovative minds within the sphere of innovation will descend on Goodes Hall to speak to more than 200 eager students, alumni, industry members and citizens.

Originally the first event of its kind in Canada, the third iteration of the student-organized Innovation Summit brings together thought leaders on innovation and creativity from leading companies, institutions and think tanks across North America to discuss the best way to use innovation to create sustainable competitive advantage.

?We are at an interesting crossroads in the Canadian and world economies, where strategies of the past will not necessarily work in the future,? said Christina Waters, MBA?12 and Co-Chair of the Innovation Summit. ?That?s why this year?s Summit focuses on how innovation is a key strategic tool for future personal, corporate, and societal success.?

The theme this year?s Summit is ?Spark!? and seeks to answer the question of ?how individuals can ignite the spark of innovation around them?? As evidenced in the news nearly every day, the pace of change within the business world is ever increasing. By focusing on how to transform ideas into developed business innovations, our hope is that participants will come away with an understanding of how to make eureka moments come to fruition ? in the most timely and impactful way possible.

To deepen the ?Spark!? theme, the Summit will offer three concentrations of innovation that participants can choose to focus on: Social, Firm, and Individual. These three concentrations examine the innovative strategies, concepts, trends and ideas needed to succeed in the future.

This year?s lineup features over 30 speakers from the public and private sector, including 3M, Bombardier, RBC, Xerox, IBM, Exxon, Industry Canada, National Research Council (NRC), PARTEQ and Ontario Centres of Excellence.

Event organizers are marketing the event to business and government leaders, graduate students, alumni and undergraduates in the faculties of Commerce, Law, Engineering and Policy Studies. Students and members of the public are encouraged to join the discussion on the Queen?s School of Business Innovation Summit Facebook page and on Twitter @qsbis.
